What is a Slot?

Slot

You’ve probably heard the term “Slot” at least once, and probably wondered how it works. First of all, you need a slot type. Those are the entities that you need to process a user’s utterance. For example, if you’re looking to book a hotel, you can map the word “hotel” to one of the built-in slot types. If you’re looking to book a hotel, you might say, “New York City.” The bot will then map this information to the entity in your utterance.

The term “Slot” has many definitions. Despite the name, the term has become a synonym for electronic gadget nerds, or the urban teenagers who spend 70 hours a week in front of a screen. There are also other meanings of the term, including an assignment or a job opening. A job in the copy desk might have a “slot” for the chief copy editor. And in the air traffic management field, a slot is a space authorized by an air-traffic authority and a job position in the Gazette.

A slot can be defined as the space between the face-off circles in the offensive zone. There are two types of slots – the low slot and the high slot. The low slot is located directly in front of the goaltender, while the high slot is in the center of the ice, above the face-off circles. The paytable on an individual machine is located on the front of the machine. You can also look up the pay table online or in a help menu in the slot game you’re playing.
